Tehran, July 14. MOBNA – The formation of a workgroup to review Third Operator fate has been postponed to July 26 when Parliament will reconvene, Parliament industries and mines committee member announced.
“The workgroup will consist of Parliament research center members, industries and mines committee members and ICT ministry and will be formed on July 26,” Ali-Asghar Yousef-Nejad told Mobna news agency.
“It is planned that Radio Communication and Regulations Organization will prepare a report on Third Operator tender from its beginning up to now and submitted to the Cabinet for revision,” he said.
Third Operator tender was held in January 2009 and Tamin-Etisalat consortium was declared the winner but was later dismissed from the project for failure to perform its commitments. Negotiation with the tender runner-up, Zain-Iran consortium, was started later on but it could not fulfill the tender conditions either.
Currently, the fate of Third Operator project, which was planned to release its sim cards in the summer, remains in doubt.
