Landline phone sale on demand not yet possible

Tehran, July 12. MOBNA – Last year the Information and Communications Technology minister had pledged that the sale on demand of landline phone would be possible in near future, but that has not yet happened.

ICT minister, Mohammad Soleymani, had said last Iranian year (ended March 2009) that landline phone would be sold on demand countrywide, but the minister’s first term has ended and the promise has not yet materialized.
Installing landline phone takes one week from date of application in Tehran and three weeks in Karaj.
Currently there are more than 24 million installed landline phones in Iran with 35 percent penetration rate.
