159 rural ICT offices launched in Fars Province last year

Tehran, July 9. MOBNA – 159 rural information and communication technology offices were launched in Fars Province during last Iranian year (ended March 2009), Fars Province Telecommunication Company managing director announced.

“According to the Fourth Economic Development Plan (2005-2010), 524 rural ICT offices are to be launched in the province and so far 498 have been launched,” Changiz Amiri told Mobna news agency.
“Postal, telecommunication and Post Bank services are among those that are being offered by rural ICT offices,” he added.
“Rural mobile phone project was started in 2005 and so far 309 BTS sites have been launched in the province,” he said.
“With Mobile Company of Iran roaming link with rural GSM network, over 33 percent of Fars Province villages are now under mobile phone network coverage,” he added.
